Labrador Retriever Training In Games
Dog Training |
Typically, this breed is very athletic, they love to swim, play catch and are most at home and content when retrieving games are introduced into their daily routine and used within a good labrador retriever training program.
The Labrador is generally good with children, although not quite as tolerant as the Golden Retriever, but with a good labrador retriever training program there is generally never an issue.
The standard for a Labrador Retriever is normally judged on the following criteria:
Size: Labs are classified in the medium to large breed. They should be proportional from the shoulders to the base of the tail and from the shoulders to the floor. The male Labrador should fall into the weight range of 65 to 80 pounds and females in the 55 to 70 pound range.
Color: Generally, the normal color range is divided into three catagories: (Black, Yellow and Chocolate). The black should be considered to be absolute black. The yellow color will vary from a slight cream to red. The reddish color would be described as the darker, rich color of the Golden Retriever breed. The chocolate Lab will consist of a mixture of medium to dark brown.
Head: The head of the Labrador should be broad with a slightly pronounced brow, sporting hazel or brown eyes with a black lining. The ears should be located somewhat above the eyes and hang close to the head. Droopy eyes would not be considered acceptable.
Body: The overall body should display a level top line and a muscular, strong appearance.
Coat: The coat will be slightly dry with an oily texture, thus giving it that “water-proof” stereotype. The hair should be short and dense but not a wiry texture.
Labradors are known to be a friendly, versatile and an all around well balanced dog breed, suitable for almost any type of family household and easily adaptable to a specific type of labrador retriever training schedule.
THEY EASILY ADAPT TO A VARYING RANGE OF FUNCTIONS, AS WELL AS MAKING VERY GOOD PETS WHEN GIVEN PROPER LABRADOR RETRIEVER TRAINING.
They are prone to chewing objects, even though they have what is considered to be a “soft mouth” which is useful for waterfowl, this chewing problem can be trained out of them by utilizing an appropriate dog training program.
Their general lack of fear and boisterous attitude may require a slightly more specific labrador retriever training program. This will ensure that your Labador Retriever does not get completely out of hand.
Imagine an 80 pound, overexcited, untrained dog running completely out of control. Because of this enthusiasm, leash-training at an early age is a must for any Labrador Retriever.
Labs are generally not known to be territorial, insecure, aggressive, destructive, hypersensitive, or exhibit other difficult traits which are sometimes found in a variety of other dog breeds.
Because of their unique personalities, some Labs will climb or jump simply for their own amusement. They are highly intelligent and capable of intense focus.
Therefore, under the correct conditions and the need-to-know, a bored Labrador could turn into an “escape artist”. A good fence should be at the top of your list.
Labradors are an intelligent breed with a good work ethic and generally born with a good temperament. They have a proven tract record when it comes to hunting, tracking, detection, working with the disabled person and therapy work.
The Labrador Retriever is considered to be at the top of the dog breed list and with a good labrador retriever training program, your Lab will become the type of companion you have always wanted.
